(From what ACDSee sees as IPTC->Content:Title and ExifTool shows as IPTC->ObjectName. In my case the process is done in two parts, first using a recorded action to place the black bar on the images, and then batch edit to place the caption/title on the black bar, however in my case, the batch edit process takes the caption/title from the IPTC metadata embedded in the image, not from the filename. Michael, for display on TV, I too have ACDSee Ultimate put the caption/title on a black bar across the bottom of the image.

I could of course just insert the caption and perhaps cut n paste from the file name but that is tedious in the extreme, so I was hoping for a more automated solution I can't even go in and edit the inserted text from the meta data because ACDSee inserts the meta data as a complete block and not as text so the only thing you can do is move it or delete it. At present when I insert the filename as the text it of course inserts all of the filename including the number.

Whilst I am quite content to have file names with the same description with a sequential number to differentiate them as required by Windows (and indeed DOS for those who remember that) what I want to do is to be able to automate the creation of a text caption for the image using the description but stripping out the number, as descri9bed above. I have used the batch rename facility and worked my way through the various options and although very much still learning I have successfully renamed files using the various options available including stripping out portions of the filename. Not sure if I explained myself well enough. Is there a way of only inserting part of the filename, in the same way that I can strip sections of the original name in batch rename? If I try to rename the files to miss the number of course after the first one it tells me there is a conflict.
